Barbara K. Iverson, PhD., is a mobile and social media consultant. Iverson is the co-founder and former publisher of Chicagotalks.org, a hyperlocal news site for Chicago. ChicagoTalks.org is a citizen and community news site founded in 2006 supported by Columbia College Chicago. 

In 2015, Iverson took a buyout from Columbia College Chicago. Dr. Iverson currently serves on the Board of Voqal.org, a nonprofit that supports organizations and individuals to build an educated, empowered, and engaged public in Chicago and the USA.

"DrBarb" started blogging in 1999. A "midlife" journalist, Barbara Iverson did a stint as an elementary school teacher, an educational researcher, and a producer of interactive multimedia. More recently, Iverson was a contributor to Poynter's E-Media Tidbits, former VP for Technology for Association of Women Journalists(AWJ), an organizer of Chicago Bloggers Meetup, a member of Chicago's opengov group, and advisor to the Society for Professional Journalist Student Chapter at Columbia College.
